The accurate exegesis and application of a text is foundational to effective ministry. You must know the text, teach the text, and live the text. As it relates to military chaplaincy, I am thankful that VBTS offers the 72 credit hour Master of Biblical Studies for Chaplaincy that includes the study of the Greek text. However, I want to challenge aspiring military chaplains to consider the 96 credit-hour Master of Divinity.
Since January of this year, I have been immersing myself in the book of Judges as preparation for teaching a Judges exegesis course in the Fall. The literary presentation is nothing short of fascinating, and the "true-truth" being presented is both profound and convicting. The message of the book is so important that I have become convinced that anyone involved in Christian leadership desperately needs to have an understanding of what the Spirit has to teach us in this book.
