**Updated** This class will not be offered for the spring 2022 semester. The Exposition of Revelation is offered as an elective to all M.B.S., M.T.S., and M.Div. students. The semester’s study will examine the content of the letter of the Apostle John to the seven churches of Asia. Since this course is primarily an interpretation of the English Text, all students may enter into this letter’s exposition regardless of their ability to handle the original language; however, at times the original language will need to be referred to. The overarching point of the Apocalypse is to unveil God’s plan for the consummation of the ages, and to give highest honor to his Son, Jesus Christ, who will oversee the plan. This study emphasizes a linear path through the letter (vis-à-vis a non-linear direction), and will carefully embrace the futurist interpretational methodology though attention will also be given to other hermeneutical approaches so that the student will be well aware of the differing nuances within the Body of Christ. The course is designed to prepare each student to accurately and authoritatively communicate this Letter’s contents in either a classroom or pastoral setting.
As a result of taking this course, the student will be able to . . .
• grasp the background, content, and significance of the Revelation, which includes a working knowledge of its three main parts.
• identify the main interpretive views of the book with special emphasis given to the futuristic hermeneutical method of interpretation.
• interact weekly with the exegesis and conclusions of Buist Fanning.
