Issues in Intercultural Ministry follows on the heels of the principles learned in Mission and Evangelism and seeks to further explore key insights gleaned from the worlds of cultural anthropology and intercultural communication to help students develop an intentional and successful intercultural ministry which will enable them to make disciples of Jesus Christ of men and women from all nations.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of taking this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Recognize the unseen impact culture has in shaping a person’s values, thinking, and behavior and how cultural differences often lead to misunderstandings and
  2. Identify their own cultural assumptions which shape how they view the world around them and which influence how they approach the Scripture.
  3. Become more proficient in communicating the truth of the gospel to peoples from different cultures by learning important principles of intercultural

Dr. Dan Seely (Missions Pastor at Colonial Baptist Church) and his wife Karis have been a part of Colonial for more than 20 years. Shortly after they were married in 2000, they moved to Hampton Roads for Dan to study at VBTS. While working on his M.Div., Dan served for one year as a pastoral intern at Colonial. Read more....
